UPDATE: January 22, 2018: United States Sentencing Commission Vote on January 19, 2018
January 22, 2018At its January 19, 2018 Meeting the United States Sentencing Commission did not vote on the 2018 Proposed amendments described in our last post below. However, nothing is lost as the Commission will be voting on these Amendment’s sometime prior to April 30, 2018 and, if approved, will go into effect on November 1, 2018 as scheduled. John Webster, Managing Director of National Prison & Sentencing Consultants (NPSC) believes that these important and substantial amendments will in fact be approved. In addition, at the January 19, 2018 meeting the USSC did vote to publish additional proposed amendments addressing matters relating to fentanyl, certain synthetic drugs and illegal re-entry Federal sentencing.
